Founder Story 

I am S. Srirama Santhosh, a Master of Fine Arts graduate whose journey with art began long before Doodle Monk was born. While studying, I had the privilege of working as an illustrator and photographer for Ananda Vikatan, an experience that trained my eye for detail and strengthened my storytelling instinct. Soon after, life led me into the world of cinema, where I worked closely with Mr. P.C. Sreeram for several years. From long days on set to the thrill of cinematography on my debut film, those experiences shaped my visual language and discipline—but somewhere in the rush of film life, I drifted away from my own art.

One day, in between tight schedules, I picked up my phone and started doodling—simple, spontaneous sketches drawn on the go. Those tiny doodles filled a space in me I didn’t even realise had gone empty. They brought back my joy, my flow, and my ikigai. I began posting my doodles on Facebook, and what started as a personal expression suddenly turned into something larger. The response was immense; people connected deeply with the simplicity and honesty of the drawings. Messages poured in, magazines and newspapers reached out, and slowly the internet began to notice this new style.

As appreciation grew, people began asking for illustrated merchandise. I started humbly—handmade bookmarks, each one individually drawn. The demand became so overwhelming that I simply couldn’t keep up with manual production. That’s when I decided to take the next step: I sourced printers, streamlined production, and transformed my doodles into thoughtfully crafted products under the name Doodle Monk.

On April 14th, 2016, I officially launched the Doodle Monk website—a moment that marked the beginning of the brand’s journey into the world as a full-fledged creative platform.

From those first handmade bookmarks to a wide range of stationery and lifestyle products, the journey has been organic and full of heart. Today, Doodle Monk is proudly present in premium stores across India and is expanding internationally. Yet the soul of the brand remains unchanged: art that spreads joy, simplicity, and positivity.

My journey taught me that creativity is not something you chase—it’s something you live. Doodle Monk is the outcome of finding my way back to myself and choosing to share that happiness with the world.

About Doodle Monk

Doodle Monk was born from a simple idea: a doodle can hold happiness, and a monk can spread it. A doodle is the simplest form of art—pure, honest, and free. Whatever emotion you pour into it, it reflects back with warmth. A monk, on the other hand, represents clarity, reflection, and inner peace. When I realised that my doodles made me feel the same calmness and joy that a monk’s presence symbolises, the name came naturally: Doodle + Monk = Doodle Monk.
